Mechanical low back pain (LBP) affects at least 80% of us some time in our lives, perhaps 20-30% of us at any given time. It is the fifth most common reason for all physician visits in the U.S. Most common contributors include: improper posture, sedentary lifestyle, and lack of exercise.
Neck pain and stiffness is quite common and can have many different causes and contributing factors. Often spinal joints in the neck develop improper movement patterns and lack of motion causing resulting muscles spasms and stiffness.
Repetitive Stress Injuries
Repetitive strain/stress injuries is a term used to refer to several discrete conditions that can be associated with repetitive tasks, forceful exertions, vibrations, mechanical compression, or sustained/awkward positions.Examples: carpal tunnel syndrome, De Quervain syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis), tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), and radial tunnel syndrome.
Sprain or Strains/Sports Injuries
Injuries are cumulative. If an injury is never addressed or treated they have a tendency to create pain and dysfunction at a later time. Examples: plantar fascitis, ankle sprains, knee issues, running injuries (ITB syndrome), shoulder, elbow, and wrist injuries.
